Overview
The Wait Before Next Step allows you to add a pause between steps in a workflow. When this step occurs, the workflow will pause for the amount of time you set before automatically continuing to the next step. This is useful for spacing out communications or actions over a period of time.
How to Access the Workflow Builder
Click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top-left corner of your ProLine account.
Click Workflows.
Click the Workflows tab.
From here you can either click the pencil icon on an existing workflow to open it, or click Create Workflow to create a new one. Both will open the Workflow Builder.
Adding a Wait Before Next Step
There are two ways to add this step in the Workflow Builder:
Option 1: Using Add Wait
Hover over any of the downward arrows between steps. When the options appear, click Add Wait. This will immediately add a Wait Before Next Step between the two steps.
Option 2: Using Add Step
Hover over any of the downward arrows between steps and click Add Step when it appears. If you are setting up a new workflow, click the Add Your First Step button in the center of the builder. An Add Step panel will open with a search bar and a list of step types organized by category. Select Wait Before Next Step under the Workflow Control section.
Both options will open the Edit Step panel on the right side of the screen.
Configuring the Step
Step Status
This step is set to Active by default. Use the toggle to set it as Inactive if you want to skip the wait temporarily without removing it from the workflow.
Conditional Logic
Check Only run this step if certain conditions are met to make this step run only when specific criteria are matched. If the conditions are not met, ProLine skips the step and moves to the next one automatically. For more details on how conditional logic works, see Workflows: Workflow Steps Overview.
Delay Configuration
When this step occurs, the workflow will pause for the amount of time you set. After the wait ends, the workflow continues automatically.
Wait Before Running the Next Step (Required)
Enter the amount of time to wait before the next step runs. You can set a combination of:
Days
Hours
Minutes
All fields default to 0. If all three values are left at 0, the step will save but no actual wait time will be applied and the workflow will continue immediately to the next step.
Saving
Once you have configured your wait time, click Save.
