Getting Started
To begin a CSV import:
Open the hamburger menu in your ProLine account.
Navigate to Data Manager.
Select the Files tab.
On the top-right of the screen, click Import CSV.
This action will launch the File Importer in a new browser tab.
File Importer Overview
Inside the File Importer tab, you'll see several options for how to upload your files:
1. Sample CSV Template
Click the “Sample file_upload.csv” link to download a pre-formatted CSV template.
This template includes the correct column structure to help you organize:
File Name – The name of your file ("GAF_ColorOptions.pdf")
File URL – A public URL from where ProLine can grab the file
Linked Entities (optional) – Fields like associated contact or project (when applicable)
Use this method if you're uploading URLs for manufacturer docs or images hosted online.
2. Drag-and-Drop or Click to Upload
Click into the “Drag & Drop files here / Click to upload” area.
This opens your device's file browser so you can upload your own:
.csv
.xls
.xlsx files
Use this if you’ve already created a spreadsheet on your local device and want to import it directly.
3. Copy-Paste Table Data
If you prefer to copy data directly from another table:
Click “Click here to copy-paste table data”
Select the delimiter (comma, tab, semicolon, etc.) based on how your data is formatted
Paste in the table rows directly into the field
Most users prefer the sample file method for its simplicity and structure.
What Should Be in the CSV?
Your CSV file should include at minimum:
File Name – What you want the file to be named in ProLine
File URL – A publicly accessible URL to download the file
This tool is most commonly used to import files hosted online, such as:
Product catalogs from manufacturers
PDFs for internal SOPs
Marketing image assets
Uploading & Watching Progress
Once your file is ready:
Drag and drop your completed CSV or Excel file into the upload box
The system will begin importing and show you a live progress screen
✅ Green checkmarks mean the files were uploaded successfully
❌ Red Xs indicate a failed upload (e.g., broken URL or unsupported format)
After verifying the results, click “Finish Import” to complete the process
Where Do Imported Files Go?
After import:
All uploaded documents will appear in either:
Company Files (for company-wide documents), or
All Files (if assigned to a project or contact during import)
You can now organize these files into folders, assign permissions, or add them to quotes and other workflows.
